What information we collect and why
Contact form submissions
When you use our Contact Us form, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and message. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry. Form submissions are stored in our WordPress database and delivered to our administrative email.
Membership registration and dues payment
When you register as a member and pay dues, we collect your name, email address, and payment information. Payment transactions are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your credit card details on our servers — these are handled entirely by Stripe. You can review Stripe’s privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
Donations
When you make a donation, we collect your name, email address, and payment details through our donation platform (GiveWP), processed via Stripe. Donation records are retained for accounting and acknowledgement purposes.
Ethiopia-based payments
Members paying via Telebirr or bank transfer submit a contact form with their transaction reference number. This information is used solely to verify and activate membership.
Email communications
We send transactional emails — membership confirmations, donation receipts, and payment reminders — using Brevo (formerly Sendinblue). We do not send marketing emails without your consent. You can review Brevo’s privacy policy at brevo.com/legal/privacypolicy.
Cookies
Our website uses cookies to support basic site functionality. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you have an account and log in, a temporary cookie is set to remember your session. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.
Who we share your data with
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We share data only with the service providers necessary to operate the site:
- Hostinger — website hosting
- Stripe — payment processing
- Brevo — transactional email delivery
How long we retain your data
Contact form submissions are retained for 12 months. Membership and donation records are retained for as long as required for association accounting purposes. If you request deletion of your data, contact us at [email protected] and we will respond within 30 days.
